Beauty Literotica: The DERMAdoctor Skinstruction Manual by Dr. Audrey Kunin

It’s time again for another selection of “Beauty Literotica”. Every two weeks, I’d like to try my best to find and review a book in makeup, skincare, and beauty. So far, I guess you guys like this little segment and it gives me energy to continue. To me, “Knowledge is power” and “It’s never too late to learn”. I have learned a whole lot about this skin-deep topic while reviewing the books. Today’s selection is homage to my geek-style training: “The DERMAdoctor Skinstruction Manual” by Dr. Audrey Kunin really does look like a textbook to me. Also, it is structured like a textbook. And I wonder why on earth I would recommend such a book to anybody, let alone writing a review online.

The DERMAdoctor Skinstruction Manual by Audrey Kunin, M.D

The truth and the honest truth is this book contains the most concise information on all common skin problems out there. The first part of this book is “Your Prescription to Beautiful Skin”, which covers from A (acne) to W (ward) of skin diseases. While you can read all the available topics, I find it useful just to read the conditions that I have (which mostly are acne and acne scarring.) In each skin condition, Dr. Kunin mentioned the cause and available treatments for it. While it looks like a textbook, the information is not dry and boring but straightforward and funny.



Part two of this book is called “Beautiful Skin Is Always in” where Dr. Kunin talks about the aging process, cosmetic dermatology, reading cosmetic labels, hair removal, tattoos, etc. This part, while is shorter than the first one, is a must-read for those who want to take better care of their skins.

By now, you may recognize the name “DERMAdoctor”. It’s a popular skincare brand that’s sold online and at Sephora. However, the purpose of this book is not to promote the brand. It is a collection of well-written and witty articles of common skincare issues. I think everyone should have this book in his or her home for reference. As we get older, more skin issues may sprout up and it’s a good idea to have reliable information at arm’s reach.
