Belly at Large: Change Your Lash Curler Pads

From the desk of Jack Belly, Editor-at-Large of My Makeup Blog
(As typed and edited by Dao)

Yo, what's up my home girls? How are you doing? This is Jack Belly, your new editor-at-large. Since I signed my contract under the dotted line, the human handler Dao gave me my first assignment and I had to dig real hard to find my inspiration. Writing is not as easy as chasing squirrels, ya know? Also, she threatened to cut off my keebler supply if I don't write. I need to make a living as well and here is my debut post.

Since we mentioned about inspiration, I went around the house and put my nose in everything. Beside finding where my editor-in-chief put her stash as well as my cat food, I found this disgusting little thing in the trash:

The thing I talked about is the object on the right paw side
Disgusting, innit?

I'm glad to find that old lash curler pad in the trash as well as the new one because girl, you need to change yo' eye lash curler pads once in a while! Srsly Seriously, how can you curl your whiskers eyelashes with such a banged-up device? It not only hurts your eyes but also harbors bacteria. And pink eyes is not fashionable, ya heard?

(Note to readers: he meowed loudly at this point to protest with anger at pink eyes.)
When you know to dump your lash curler pads:
  1.  It splits right at the middle (like the one in the picture)
  2. It feels like leather
  3. It does not curl your lashes no mo'
  4. You don't remember when you bought the curler and what color the pad originally looked like.
If you answer "yes" to one or more of the aboved categories, please dump your pad and get a new one. The pad should be changed once every three to six months. Now, some companies like Shu Uemura do not sell replacement pads beyond the extra one that comes with the eyelash curler but you can easily find something similar at CVS or Sally's Beauty. Dao got hers at Sally's, methinks. (I checked and she confirmed.)

Ok, that's all for now, kittens! Let me have my own treats, mkay meow!

Peace out,
Mr. Belly >.<

Ok I am very guilty of this disgusting habit, I try to squeeze out the last bit of life from it, and my lashes actually get stuck inside that groove and gets pulled out >.<
For the life of me, I cannot find where they sell replacement pads, so what do I do? I buy another curler. I have 5 at last count T.T
    I fail.

  4. I'm loving this column and can't wait for the next post.

Mr Belly is so right! I change my lash curler pads regularly cos I'm too scared of getting infections if I don't.

  6. Hi McNunu,

Belly said meow to you when he stopped by last night. I know how bad it is when the lash curler pad is in the last leg of its life. Like you, I also have 5 non-function lash curlers laying around. Next time I go to the post office, I'll send some replacement pads your way, how about that?

  7. Hi Gio,

Belly was glad you love his column. He was afraid I would dodge his wage if nobody reads it (really, just kidding!)

Beside getting infection, the old pads can rip off your eyelashes very easily. It is painful and if you have sparse lashes like me, they can take forever to grow back.

  8. Hi Lynn,

The last time I check, CVS and Sally's Beauty supply have replacement pads but sometimes they don't fit properly. You may need to cut them a bit but I like the ones from Sally's.

    Mr. Belly loves you, too!

  12. Hi Witoxity,

He's very particular about his whiskers and I guess it transfers over to human eyelashes. He's so talented and handsome :)
