Pencisl, Straight from the Vault!

Happy Monday, everybody!

Next to my unequivocal love to mascara and makeup brushes is my love to pencils, you know, eyeliners and lip liners. I did not know how many of them I've hauled home until I did an inventory and holy mother of pearl, I have a lot! Take a look at my pencil army:

The first 12 are eyeliners while the last 5 are lip liners. Except for the first one, which is MAC Teddy eye kolh, the rest of them are super cheap. #2, 3, 4 are Wet n Wild, #5 is a Revlon liner, #6 is from NYC (great stuff, by the way!)

Liner #7 is the famous Revlon Colorstay pencil that I've had for a while now. I refuse to throw it away even when the mechanical part does not work that well anymore. #8 is also Revlon Colorstay but in liquid pencil form. This one is great and so easy to use. I am going to do a review on it soon. #9 is a Victoria's Secret liquid pencil liner in teal. It is alreayd discontinued a long time ago but the color is really gorgeous.

#10-12 are chubby liners and they work to a certain extend. So far, I've had the worst luck with chubby pencils although I really love them a lot. I really want to try NYX chubby pencils but don't know how well they perform. I hate to spend money on things that do not work that well.

The lip liners are uber cheap: the red one (#13 from the left) is from Rimmel London and is very fabulous to use. I really love Rimmel lip liners as they are soft and pigmented (and cheap, too!) You don't need to spend an arm and a leg on lip liners if you can get your hands on some Rimmel. The next two are from Maybelline NY and I think they are already discontinued. They are the remains of my dark lipstick wearing past and I don't wear them anymore. These liners are really soft and I hate to throw them away.

The tall lip liner (#16) is the famous Wet n Wild 666 lip liner that I love so much! I did a review here and urge all of y'all to go get it. It only costs a whooping amount of cash around the neighborhood of 99 cents!

The last one is NYX lip liner in Natural, I rarely use it as it is quite hard. I prefer the 666 over this one although they cost the same price.

I store them in a jar and this jar is really full for now!

You know what I just did? I just gave you a batch review (or preview) of all my liners. So far, the ones that work for me are either really expensive or really cheap. The exception is Revlon Colorstay, which is the best black liner in the market so far. For lip liners, I do not own anything so expensive and honestly, I do not see the difference between an expensive lip liner and a cheap one. The fact that Wet n Wild 666 is in the most popular lip liner list is the testament to that.

How about you? How many liner pencils you own? Do you have colored eyeliners or just stick to black ones? I'd love to hear from y'all,  so comment, ok?

Guess what? 15 more followers and I'll reach number 100. So those of you who have not followed me yet, you should. The sooner I go over 100, the sooner we'll have another giveaway. Hence, follow up, folks! It does not take you more than 1 minute, I promise.

  1. Thanks for the info. Just wondering, do make up pencils spoil or can you have them for years on end?

  2. Hi Vivier Skin Care,

Like other makeup, pencil liners do go bad after some time. They need to be replaced after 2 years but if you see your pencil liner becomes dryer, it's time to toss.

  3. Pretty awesome collection! I tend to stick to black eyeliners because it makes me look polished without too much effort, and I'm always looking for new good black eyeliners that doesn't run and smudge. So I have...6 different black pencil eyeliners (LOL quite a large number for just one color).

How does the Wet n Wild pencil do in term of being able to blend and not smudge throughout the day? I'm actually looking forward to expand my eyeliner collection to more colors to wear on my lower lashline but I'm afraid of smudging.

  4. How do you like the NYX lip pencils?

  5. Wow! THOSE ARE A LOT!!! XD
I have no pencil eyeliner at the moment because I depend on my Crayon liquid eyeliner ever since. I have a lipliner myself that I barely use, the Integrate Darcy from Shiseido.

One thing I noticed about pencil eyeliners is they always smudge dirtily. Or maybe its because I'm using cheapo pencils?

  7. Hi Jingwei,

Wow, you have 6 black eyeliners? Girl, I've got to see it! The cheap WnW (the tall ones) are very soft and I use them for my lower lash lines because they do smudge. The gold WnW one is a bit harder and metallic but since it's gold, I use it on my lower lash lines as well. All of them do not smudge on my lower lash lines but the do smudge if I apply on my eyelids.

  8. Hi Fabuless Beauty,

The NYX lip liner I have is the cheap one (~1 dollar at cherry culture). I find it a bit hard to use, maybe because they gave me an old one. I would prefer the WnW 666 over the NYX one I have because the former is a lot softer and easier to pencil in.

  9. Hi Aicha,

Maybe you have oily eyelids and the pencil you use is not waterproof? I have that problem, too, even when I use expensive non-waterproof liners. I found Revlon ColorStay pencil liners to be very reliable and dark. If you want to switch to pencil liners, you should give it a try. Also, once you make a switch, you'll find lining your lashes with pencils is so easy!

  11. You have a nice collection of liners. I used to rarely wear eyeliners but these days I've really got into them and almost never leave the house without. I'm still building my collection and only have six or seven at the moment.

  12. Hi Gio,

I only buy the cheap ones and with some luck, they work to a certain extend. The ones that smudge on my lids are used for the bottom lash lines. I used to have horrible luck with liners and had only two: a black and a brown one. Now, with so many drugstores around my neighborhood, I just hoard them :)

  13. Hi Dao,

Thanks for sharing your pencil collection! I love WnW liners too! They're such a great deal.

The NYX jumbo pencils work great as eyeshadow bases (with primer underneath) and also as eyeshadows (they blend pretty well). However, because they are so soft and spreadable/blendable, they don't work well as liners because they tend to smudge (at least on me).

  14. Hi Amy,

Thanks for the head up on the NYX jumbo pencils. I've been wanting them for a while but since I have oily lids, I am afraid they will migrate :) Glad you love the WnW liners as well.

  15. Thanks for the reply. I need to trash most of my pencils now. I buy them...but never use them!

  16. Hi Vivier,

You are welcome! What do you use to line your eyes, btw?

  17. My eyes are dark brown, and I've heard that purple makes them "pop". I got some glominerals stuff - it's mineral based. I love it, even though it's pretty expensive.

  18. Hi Vivier,

To make your eyes pop, just go with colors that are opposite to your eye color in the color wheel. Purple, blue, and green work for brown eyes. I'm glad you like your glominerals. I haven't heard about that brand before.
